This post is all about Italian Desserts.

Whether you’re craving something sweet or, a writer setting your novel in Italy- implementing authentic cuisine gives your writing a lot more personality and realism (think of it as a garnish!)- then this post is for you.

I never had a sweet tooth but these certainly changed that. The best part is that these are simple and easy to make.

1. Crostata di Frutta (Italian Fruit Tart)

Or, as I would say- love at first sight. From the moment I saw it, I knew this would be the one dessert that I would never get tired of. And, it’s super easy to make! Delicious, easy on the eyes, and easy-effort? Who wouldn’t love that?

You can find this recipe here- over at Emily & Nathan’s ‘Inside the Rustic Kitchen’ blog.

2. Italian Cream Stuffed Cannoncini (Cream Horns)

Writing these posts are actually harder than you think. I’m only on #2 and already caving in. Cannocinni– Classic. Italian. Pastery. Manuela did an amazing job with making this dessert look tempting by the eyes and stomach.

You can find her recipe here- on her blog ‘Cooking With Manuela’.

3. Panna Cotta with Berry Sauce

If you’re a fruity gal like myself, then this one is right up your alley! Do you know that saying that goes, ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover‘ -well, I give you permission to judge this by it’s amazing cover because you certainly won’t be disappointed. If this photo doesn’t already convince you to give it a go, then I don’t know what will!

You can find this recipe here – at Natasha’s blog, ‘Natasha’s Kitchen’.

These stemless wine glasses are a great find on Amazon and perfect for Panna Cotta.

4. Lemon Ricotta Cake

Talk about quick and easy and this Italian lemon ricotta cake is here for you. With it’s super light, airy, and crumbly moist goodness you won’t be able to pass up a second slice- or third. Liz gives an amazing recipe you have to check out and try for yourself.

Find this recipe here- on her blog ‘OwlBBaking’.

5. Tiramisu

How can I talk about authentic Italian desserts and NOT mention the famous Tiramisu? Alright, full confession time, don’t laugh at me but I actually did not know for a long time that it’s origin was Italian. I always assumed it was French, I’m not even sure why I made that assumption (very sorry for my lack of knowledge there, Italy). Needless to say, I absolutely LOVE Tiramisu and it’s definitely my favourite dessert!

You can find this amazing and easy recipe here- at Natasha’s Kitchen.

Have you tried any of these yet?

Definitely let me know if you have, what’s your favourite Italian dessert, and if you plan to make any of these soon!

Tiramisu of course, but very few places even serve the truly authentic tiramisu.. they make it too sweet.. whereas it is meant to be a little bitter
