My Review
Everytime I read one of Stephanie Garber’s books I feel like I’m dipped in magic and honey and all things wonderful 🥺 I absolutely loved it. And JACKS. Goodness, I adored him. I mean how could one not love a tragically beautiful villain like the Prince of Hearts?
HE is the only male that is cold, unbothered, and stone-hearted that I can tolerate. Being heartless and cruel in real life is such a big turnoff 🐣 sorry.
“For it was also said the Prince Of Hearts was not capable of love because his heart had stopped beating long ago. Only one person could make it beat again: his one true love. They said his kiss had been fatal to all but her – his only weakness – and as he’d sought her, he’d let a trail of corpses.”
I have to admit though that I felt the romance to be rather constrained 🙈 Rightfully, I can understand because it’s YA and intended for a certain audience, but I couldn’t help but feel sort of deprived with the romantic aspect here. I guess it could be a personal preference thing, but it really doesn’t take away from how magical and whimsical the vibe of the story is ✨
So I’d rate it 9/10. 🍎🦊💔
I think this book is great for someone who wants to start getting into fantasy. It’s fast-paced, and super beginner-friendly, especially with the world-building.
