“It isn’t very polite to stand right there when others are speaking,” I said to her. Her soft flowery perfume danced off her and delicately kissed my senses.
“This is my house, I can stand anywhere I want.” she shot back.
She was about to leave but I held her back by the wrist. I was careful this time not to be rough, although it was hard when she was so tiny. “And don’t make calling me a habit Greene, it’s quite annoying.” I finished.
“Adrian, I’ve made some chocolate brownies this morning,” her sister’s voice perched into the tense air between Greene and me.
“Go Adrian,” she mocked at her sister’s impression of my name, “Go and stuff your mouth with her horrid brownies and stare into her eyes when she’s not talking. Oh, and don’t forget to choke while you chew on it.”
I blinked. Was she… jealous? I bit in the urge to laugh. Juliet Greene was undoubtedly the most adorable creature on the earth right now. I didn’t like her- quite frankly I wasn’t sure what I felt for her- but this was most amusing. She stomped away, up the staircase, out of my sight. She clearly didn’t realize that the only reason I came here was to see her and ensure she was okay. But it’s better if she believes whatever she thinks right now.
