She never fails to push my buttons.
If getting another room makes her feel more comfortable then fine. I wasn’t going to argue further with her. “Don’t call me mother.” I scowled about to walk away.
She gave a tired sigh and smiled politely, “Okay, Daddy.”

Well, that’s certainly not what I expected. I tried to keep myself composed and walked back to the receptionist. The last thing I wanted was for her to think she had any effect on me.
“Give her room 802,” I said to the girl behind the desk.

I shouldn’t have let her answer my phone. I had no idea he would have called so early. This was my fault and I had to fix it. She was on the brink of tears before leaving the room. And she had every right to feel hurt.
